Get the Skinny on ‘Interstellar’!

I had seen one or two trailers in the theater and to be honest I was only mildly interested in Interstellar. Today I got the movie bug and as much as I wanted to see a movie about a kid’s talking balloon, I decided to hit Interstellar. I will catch Big Hero later, if not on DVD.

What a cast! All big names and great actors. Even the kids were on point.

So what is this all about? Cooper, a retired pilot from the space program, is now a post apocalyptic farmer. Food is more important than anything else in the world. The armies are all gone. Daily survival is now the agenda. He is mysteriously led to a secret NASA project. but before he is, we see this new apocalyptic world piece by tiny piece filling in a larger puzzle.

The film itself is very Kubrickian. There is even a blatant nod to our old buddy HAL. Like many other space exploration flicks, the crew itself face many decisions. Life and death decisions. I was really reluctant to go to Interstellar once I found out it is three hours long. You see I am prone to fits of narcolepsy for some reason. Last night I fell asleep three times trying to watch a documentary. Netflix is going to think I really love that show.

Interstellar will keep you awake. It is a story that has not been told before and does not rely on nostalgia to bring people in. It is first and foremost, excellent storytelling with stunning visuals. Despite it nearly being three hours long, it does not feel like it is.
It is a well made film with a good story and of course has my favorite caveat; making you think about a bigger picture. I see all these videos now on youtube as I look for a trailer “Interstellar explained” Honestly people if you pay attention, it is not that complex.

Engross yourself in the movie and follow along as mysteries unravel and you will thoroughly enjoy it.
